Trim the empty edges

Exported logos and stickers often arrive with a wide transparent border, so they sit off-center or too small wherever you place them. Trim empty edges finds the visible part of the image and crops to it, edge to edge.

It ignores the faint, nearly invisible pixels some design apps leave behind, so a stray speck of shadow does not stop the trim short.

  1. Add your PNG. Transparent parts show as a checkerboard.

  2. Trim or drag. Trim the empty edges, or drag the box yourself.

  3. Save as PNG. The transparent parts stay transparent.

This cut-out is 1600 × 900. Trim empty edges keeps the 1410 × 605 that has something in it.

What saving as JPG would change

PNG keeps every pixel and can store transparency, which is why logos, icons, and screenshots use it. Save a cropped logo as JPG and its transparent background turns into a solid color block; save a screenshot as JPG and small text goes soft at the edges.

This page saves as PNG to start with, so neither happens. You can still switch the format under Save as.

Cropping a photo instead? It usually comes out much smaller as JPG or WebP in the image cropper.
