Is it really free and unlimited?

Yes, and the reason is structural rather than generous. Background removal normally costs the provider money for every single image, which is why everyone meters it. It costs us nothing per image, so there is no bill to recover and nothing to ration.

Do you add a watermark or reduce the size?

Neither. The cutout comes back at the resolution you uploaded, as a clean PNG. Downscaling the free output and charging for the full-size file is a common pattern elsewhere; there is no paid tier here for it to protect.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Your photo is never sent to us and we never hold a copy of it.

Can I do several photos at once?

Yes. Drop in as many as you like and they are handled one after another, each with its own result to save. There is no cap on how many you can put through in a sitting.

Can I put the subject on a different background?

Yes. Once the cutout is done you can leave the background transparent or drop the subject straight onto white, black or a colour, and save it either way without starting again.

What kinds of images does it handle well?

People, products and animals against a reasonably distinct background are what it is strongest at. Very low contrast between subject and background, or fine detail like wispy hair against a busy scene, is where any tool of this kind struggles most.

Which file formats can I use?

JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF go in, up to 30MB each. The result always comes out as PNG, because that is the common format that supports transparency — a JPG cannot store an alpha channel.
